National Updates

  • Parliament has passed the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 with the Rajya Sabha approving it. The Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha yesterday.

  • Parliament has passed the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026. Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai moved the bill to further amend the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.

  • The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) in its new guidelines has stated that private space companies must limit the casualty risk of any planned space object re-entry to less than 1 in ten thousand.

  • The Department of Telecommunications and the Government of Madhya Pradesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi, for the establishment of India’s first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ), Phase-I, at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

  • Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth said that nearly 17 thousand MSMEs are now connected with the defence sector. The Minister said this while talking to media after a joint interactive workshop on indigenisation themed SANKALP.

  • Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, S Krishnan, said that the Government has approved the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0 with an outlay of 1 lakh 27 thousand 500 crore rupees to strengthen semiconductor manufacturing and build a self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem.

  • Protests continued in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) following a brutal crackdown by Pakistani security forces on civilians earlier this week, which left more than 40 people dead. Local authorities in the occupied region have now allegedly begun targeting women protesters.

  • The United States and Iran exchanged fresh waves of missile strikes today, raising fears of a wider regional conflict and dimming hopes for a quick resolution. After a brief lull in hostilities, the renewed attacks have heightened concerns that the fighting could draw in more countries.

  • The fastest-growing Ebola outbreak in history has killed more than 1,500 people in eastern Congo so far. According to official data released by the Congolese government, the death toll has risen by 50 per cent in about a week, indicating that the outbreak continues to outpace response efforts.

  • In the United States, a man has been convicted of federal terrorism charges in connection with the 2022 stabbing of Salman Rushdie, the author who has faced a decades-old death threat over his novel The Satanic Verses.

  • Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has charged Telegram founder Pavel Durov with facilitating terrorist activities and has started the process of placing him on the international wanted list, according to Russian state media.

  • Neeraj Chopra has qualified for men’s javelin finals in the Commonwealth Games at Glasgow. Javelin throwers Rohit Yadav and Yashvir Singh have also entered finals. Neeraj finished fifth, Rohit Yadav 9th and Yashvir Singh 10th in the qualification round.

  • In Taipei Open Badminton, Unnati Hooda, Devika Sihag, Tanvi Sharma and Kiran George have progressed to the Singles quarter-finals. However, Anmol Kharb and HS Prannoy crashed out in second round matches.

  • In squash, the Indian men’s team has stormed into the semi-finals of the Squash Junior Team Championships in Ontario, Canada. The fifth-seeded Indian men’s team defeated England 2-1 to reach the semi-finals.

  • Senior India batter Ajinkya Rahane has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect. In a social media post, Rahane said the time is right for him to move on from international cricket and all formats.

  • India scripted history in para athletics at the Commonwealth Games, securing a historic one-two finish in the men’s 100-metre T47 final, with Dilip Mahadu Gavit winning gold and Mohammed Basil Morssinganakath claiming silver.

संसद ने सार्वजनिक परीक्षा (अनुचित साधनों की रोकथाम) संशोधन विधेयक, 2026 को राज्यसभा की मंजूरी से पारित कर दिया है। यह विधेयक कल लोकसभा द्वारा पारित किया गया।
• संसद ने राष्ट्रीय सम्मान के अपमान की रोकथाम (संशोधन) विधेयक, 2026 पारित कर दिया है। गृह राज्य मंत्री नित्यानंद राय ने राष्ट्रीय सम्मान अपमान निवारण अधिनियम, 1971 में और संशोधन करने के लिए विधेयक पेश किया।
• भारतीय राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष संवर्धन एवं प्राधिकरण केंद्र (आईएन-स्पेस) ने अपने नए दिशानिर्देशों में कहा है कि निजी अंतरिक्ष कंपनियों को किसी भी नियोजित अंतरिक्ष वस्तु के पुनः प्रवेश से होने वाली क्षति के जोखिम को दस हजार में से 1 से भी कम तक सीमित रखना चाहिए।
• दूरसंचार विभाग और मध्य प्रदेश सरकार ने मध्य प्रदेश के ग्वालियर में भारत के पहले दूरसंचार विनिर्माण क्षेत्र (टीएमजेड), चरण-I की स्थापना के लिए नई दिल्ली में एक समझौता ज्ञापन (एमओयू) पर हस्ताक्षर किए।
• रक्षा राज्य मंत्री संजय सेठ ने कहा कि लगभग 17 हजार एमएसएमई अब रक्षा क्षेत्र से जुड़े हुए हैं। मंत्री ने स्वदेशीकरण थीम पर आयोजित संयुक्त इंटरैक्टिव कार्यशाला ‘SANKALP’ के बाद मीडिया से बात करते हुए यह बात कही।
• इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स एवं सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्रालय के सचिव एस कृष्णन ने कहा कि सरकार ने सेमीकंडक्टर विनिर्माण को मजबूत करने और आत्मनिर्भर सेमीकंडक्टर पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र बनाने के लिए 1 लाख 27 हजार 500 करोड़ रुपये के परिव्यय के साथ भारत सेमीकंडक्टर मिशन (आईएसएम) 2.0 को मंजूरी दे दी है।
