National Updates

• The Defence Ministry has signed two contracts with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the supply of 156 Light Combat Helicopters, Prachand, along with training and other associated equipment worth 62 thousand 700 crore rupees.

• The government approved the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme to boost the manufacturing of electronic goods and strengthen the electronics supply chain. The government has also approved 2 % Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees.

• The Central Government has issued a notification for the transfer of Justice Yashwant Varma from the Delhi High Court to the Allahabad High Court, following the Supreme Court Collegium’s recommendations on March 24.

• The Lok Sabha has passed the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill,2024. The Bill seeks to replace the Indian Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, 1925. The Bill empowers the central government to issue directions for carrying out provisions of the Bill and amend the schedule specifying rules applicable.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Thailand on the 3rd of April to participate in the 6th BIMSTEC Summit.

• The Indian Embassy is actively monitoring the situation in coordination with Thai authorities. As of now, no untoward incidents involving Indian citizens have been reported.

• रक्षा मंत्रालय ने हिंदुस्तान एयरोनॉटिक्स लिमिटेड (एचएएल) के साथ १५६ हल्के लड़ाकू हेलीकाप्टरों, प्रचंड की आपूर्ति के साथ-साथ ६२ हजार ७०० करोड़ रुपये के प्रशिक्षण और अन्य संबद्ध उपकरणों के लिए दो अनुबंधों पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।
• सरकार ने इलेक्ट्रॉनिक सामानों के निर्माण को बढ़ावा देने और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स आपूर्ति श्रृंखला को मजबूत करने के लिए इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स घटक विनिर्माण योजना को मंजूरी दी। सरकार ने केंद्र सरकार के कर्मचारियों को २% महंगाई भत्ते को भी मंजूरी दे दी है।
• केंद्र सरकार ने २४ मार्च को सुप्रीम कोर्ट कॉलेजियम की सिफारिशों के बाद न्यायमूर्ति यशवंत वर्मा के दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय से इलाहाबाद उच्च न्यायालय में स्थानांतरण के लिए अधिसूचना जारी की है।
• लोकसभा ने समुद्री मार्ग से माल ढुलाई विधेयक, 2024 पारित कर दिया है। विधेयक में समुद्री मार्ग से भारतीय माल ढुलाई अधिनियम, १९२५ को प्रतिस्थापित करने का प्रयास किया गया है। विधेयक केंद्र सरकार को विधेयक के प्रावधानों को पूरा करने के लिए निर्देश जारी करने और लागू नियमों को निर्दिष्ट करने वाली अनुसूची में संशोधन करने का अधिकार देता है।
• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी छठे बिम्सटेक शिखर सम्मेलन में भाग लेने के लिए 3 अप्रैल को थाईलैंड की दो दिवसीय यात्रा पर निकलेंगे।
• भारतीय दूतावास थाई अधिकारियों के साथ समन्वय में स्थिति की सक्रिय रूप से निगरानी कर रहा है। अभी तक, भारतीय नागरिकों से जुड़ी कोई अप्रिय घटना सामने नहीं आई है।

• In Myanmar, 144 people have died, and 732 have so far been injured, following a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar and Thailand.

• UAE has pardoned 500 Indian prisoners ahead of Ramzan, reflecting the strong bilateral ties between India and the Gulf nation.

• Supporters of pro-monarchy in Nepal clashed with police during a rally in Kathmandu for the restoration of the abolished monarchy.

• Israel has launched an attack on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, for the first time since a ceasefire ended the latest Israel-Hezbollah war in November.

• The US military carried out more than 40 air strikes on Houthi-controlled parts of Yemen. According to media reports, the strikes hit Sanaa International Airport, military sites, and other areas in the north.

• In a recent report, Morgan Stanley said India and Japan are the least exposed to US trade tariffs. The study highlights that India’s lower reliance on goods exports to GDP helps shield its economy.
