  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released new guidelines on authentication for digital payment transactions, set to take effect from April 1, 2026. The framework mandates two-factor authentication for all digital payments, though no specific method is enforced.

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the Centre’s ‘Make in India 2.0’ initiative will focus on emerging sectors that will be a big part of the global economy in the next 25 years.

  • The Home Ministry has cancelled the FCRA certificate of Sonam Wangchuk’s NGO. Sources said that according to official findings, Sonam Wangchuk had deposited 3.5 lakh rupees into the FCRA account of the association in violation of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act in 2021-22.   • World Para Athletics Championships 2025 is set to start at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi from the 27th of this month. Over 1,200 athletes are going to participate in the Championship.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev at the World Food India 2025. In a social media post, Mr Modi said they discussed ways to strengthen India and Russia’s win-win cooperation in agriculture, fertilizers and food processing.

  • Following the violent incidents and protests in Leh, the situation remained normal and under control. As the restrictions were put in place by the district administration of Leh, the situation on the ground remained normal and under control. No unwanted incidents were reported.

  • Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L. Murugan has concluded a successful multi-city visit to the Republic of Korea, further deepening India-Korea collaboration in the fields of media, entertainment, culture, gaming, and emerging technologies.

  • The External Affairs Ministry has informed that three container loads of relief materials reached Kabul, Afghanistan, via the Chabahar port and were handed over to Afghan authorities. This assistance is part of India’s ongoing humanitarian support following the recent earthquake.

  • Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy has been sentenced to five years in jail after being found guilty of criminal conspiracy. The case was related to millions of euros of illicit funds from the late Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi.

  • Leader of the interim government in Nepal, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, addressed the nation for the first time on Thursday. In her address, PM Karki said the government formed after the Gen-Z protests is committed to ensuring good governance and prompt public service delivery.

  • US stock indices closed in negative territory for the second straight session on Wednesday amid profit-booking. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped around 0.4 per cent, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index slipped over 0.3 per cent, and the S&P 500 declined around 0.3 per cent.

  • United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed the importance of ensuring human control of artificial intelligence (AI) over the use of force. He added that the Security Council and UN member states must ensure that military use of AI remains in full compliance with international laws.

  • Israel continues the ground offensive in Gaza as more than 80 Palestinians were killed by an Israeli strike across the Gaza Strip yesterday. The strike hit a building and tents sheltering displaced families in Gaza.

  • Paralympic champion Harvinder Singh withdrew from the Individual elimination round due to illness at the 2025 World Archery Para Championships in Gwangju, South Korea. The two-time Paralympic medalist recurve archer was aiming to clinch his maiden Individual World medal.

  • In the ISSF Junior World Cup 2025, Indian shooters clinched all three podium spots in the women’s 50m prone event at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi. Anushka Thokur won the gold medal in the women’s 50m prone rifle shooting event, edging out compatriot Anshik.

  • The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially filed a complaint against Pakistani cricketers Sahibzada Farhan and Haris Rauf for their inappropriate actions during the Asia Cup’s Super Four encounter on September 21.

  • Indian cricketer, Shreyas Iyer has been named captain of the India A squad for the upcoming three-match one-day series against Australia A in Kanpur, which starts from September 30.

  • The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended the ICC membership status of USA Cricket. The decision was taken after USA Cricket’s repeated and continued breaches of its obligations as an ICC Member under its Constitution.

  • In the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, India recorded their first-ever international futsal victory as they overpowered Mongolia 3-0 in the last Group A clash at Ardiya last evening.
