National Updates

• The Government stated that claims suggesting it is considering levying GST on UPI transactions over two thousand rupees are completely false, misleading, and without any basis.

• A book titled Sanskriti Ka Paanchva Adhyay, which is a compilation of speeches delivered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on various occasions, was launched in New Delhi. The head of the Juna Akhara, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri, launched the book.

• The Centre appointed Secretaries in different Ministries and Departments. Arvind Shrivastava has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Revenue, in the Ministry of Finance. He is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office.

• India is all set to create history once again in its space journey. An Indian astronaut will fly to the International Space Station (ISS) next month as part of an international space mission

• The Government clarified that no decision has been taken regarding the launch of a satellite-based tolling system from the 1st of May.

• The Centre has notified new rules for radar equipment used to measure vehicle speed, under the Legal Metrology (General) Rules, 2011.

• सरकार ने कहा कि यह सुझाव देने वाले दावे कि वह दो हजार रुपये से अधिक के यूपीआई लेनदेन पर जीएसटी लगाने पर विचार कर रही है, पूरी तरह से गलत, भ्रामक और बिना किसी आधार के हैं।
• संस्कृति का पांचवा अध्याय नामक पुस्तक, जो विभिन्न अवसरों पर प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी द्वारा दिए गए भाषणों का संकलन है, नई दिल्ली में लॉन्च की गई थी। जूना अखाड़े के प्रमुख आचार्य महामंडलेश्वर स्वामी अवधेशानंद गिरि ने पुस्तक का लोकार्पण किया।
• केंद्र ने विभिन्न मंत्रालयों और विभागों में सचिवों की नियुक्ति की। अरविंद श्रीवास्तव को वित्त मंत्रालय में राजस्व विभाग का सचिव नियुक्त किया गया है। वह वर्तमान में प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय में अतिरिक्त सचिव के रूप में कार्यरत हैं।
• भारत अपनी अंतरिक्ष यात्रा में एक बार फिर इतिहास रचने के लिए तैयार है। एक अंतरराष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष मिशन के तहत एक भारतीय अंतरिक्ष यात्री अगले महीने अंतरराष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन (आईएसएस) के लिए उड़ान भरेगा
• सरकार ने स्पष्ट किया कि 1 मई से उपग्रह-आधारित टोलिंग प्रणाली के प्रक्षेपण के संबंध में कोई निर्णय नहीं लिया गया है।
• केंद्र ने लीगल मेट्रोलॉजी (सामान्य) नियम, 2011 के तहत वाहन की गति को मापने के लिए उपयोग किए जाने वाले रडार उपकरणों के लिए नए नियम अधिसूचित किए हैं।

International Updates

• The United States told the World Trade Organisation (WTO) that its tariffs on steel and aluminium are based on national security concerns, not safeguard measures as India claims. India filed a request with the WTO on the 11th of this month, seeking consultations over the U.S. tariffs.

• Hamas has rejected Israel’s latest cease-fire offer, instead proposing a comprehensive deal to end the war and exchange all hostages for Palestinian prisoners. Israel’s proposal included a 45-day truce and the release of 10 hostages.

• S. air strikes on a fuel port in western Yemen killed at least 38 workers and injured more than 100, Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV reported.U.S. Central Command said strikes targeted the Ras Isa oil facility in Hodeidah province, aiming to disrupt Houthi revenue sources.

• In squash, Indian squash players Veer Chotrani and Anahat Singh advanced to the semifinals of the Qualifying Event (Asia) of the World Championship in Kuala Lumpur. Second-seeded Chotrani defeated home favourite Mohammad Syafiq Kamal in the men’s event.

• Sixteen-year-old Nishchay grabbed his second medal of the meet as he won a silver with a personal best effort of 19.59 meters in the boys’ shot put event on the third day of the Asian Under-18 Athletics Championship in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

• India has fielded a 56-member squad for the Asian Under-15 and Under-17 Boxing Championships being held in Amman, Jordan. This is the first event organised by Asian Boxing.
