• India and Australia signed a new Joint Declaration on Defence and Security Cooperation to secure peace and stability across the Indo-Pacific region. Both countries also adopted Maritime Security Collaboration Roadmap to promote a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.

• Amid growing concerns over irregularities in the rapidly expanding Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) sector, the National Commission for Women (NCW) constituted a high-level Expert Committee. It will undertake a comprehensive review of the regulatory framework and concerned laws governing ART sector.

• Union Home Minister Amit Shah today chaired a conference of Superintendents of Police SPs from border districts in New Delhi. Superintendents of Police from border states and Union Territories, including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal participated in the conference.

• The BRICS Women Ministers’ Meeting concluded in Kochi with the adoption of the first-ever joint statement on the Women Ministers’ Track, marking a significant milestone in advancing cooperation among BRICS member countries on women-led development.

• The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and DRI, Mumbai in a joint operation have busted a wildlife trafficking racket. The joint action was conducted at multiple locations in Maharashtra and West Bengal, based on specific intelligence about an interstate crime syndicate.

• The Quality Council of India (QCI) signed an agreement with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC) in New Delhi to establish a collaborative ecosystem aimed at strengthening quality, competitiveness and market access for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the country.

• India and Russia have called for concerted action against terrorists and terrorist groups, including those listed in the UNSC 1267 Sanctions Committee and their proxy groups and affiliates. The 14th meeting of the India-Russia Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism took place in New Delhi.

• An Iranian official accused the United States of conducting an airstrike near the Bushehr nuclear power plant. Iranian state news agency said the strike came around noon, hours after the US military’s Central Command said it had ended its strikes on Iran.

• The World Intangible Investment Report 2026, launched by World Intellectual Property Organization and Luiss Business School, reaffirms India’s emergence as a global innovation powerhouse.

• The United States launched new airstrikes against Iran last morning. Tehran responded by targeting Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar, escalating crossfire that again threatened an interim deal aimed at ending the war in the Persian Gulf.

• The Indian Pickleball Association has announced the Indian contingent for the Pickleball World Cup 2026 after a highly competitive selection process to represent the nation in Pro category at the Pickleball World Cup 2026, which will be held at Da Nang, Vietnam, from August 30 to September 6.
