National Updates

• India and the United Arab Emirates reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral defence cooperation during the 13th India-UAE Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting held in New Delhi.

• India and the US marked their maiden space collaboration with the successful flight of a GSLV rocket that placed an earth observation satellite, NISAR, in a precise orbit. NISAR, was jointly developed by ISRO and NASA.

• The Lok Sabha has given its approval to the statutory resolution regarding the extension of President’s rule in Manipur for a further period of six month with effect from 13th of August 2025.

• The 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme will be released on 2nd August. In this regard, a high-level meeting was held in New Delhi, under the chairmanship of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

• Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan, highlighted that loans worth over 11 lakh crore rupees have been disbursed to women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) through formal financial institutions under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission.

• The External Affairs Ministry sources have said that the claims regarding the revocation of the death sentence of Nimisha Priya are incorrect. They have urged people to avoid misinformation and speculation on this sensitive matter.

• The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the United Arab Emirates National Guard Command signed an agreement on Maritime Security and Safety Cooperation in New Delhi.

International updates

• Australia has added YouTube to its list of banned social media platforms for children under 16, expanding a law aimed at shielding teens from harmful online content. The Alphabet-owned site had previously been exempt due to educational use, but was included after a survey.

• The Philippines has lifted tsunami advisories in several coastal areas. Japan downgraded its warning to a tsunami advisory for Kanto to Wakayama but kept higher alerts for parts of Hokkaido and Tohoku.

• Thailand’s military accused Cambodian forces of violating a ceasefire at three border sites, warning that further aggression may prompt a stronger Thai response. The ceasefire, agreed just two days earlier through mediation by Malaysia and the U.S., aimed to end five days of deadly clashes.

• Typhoon Co-May made landfall in China’s Zhejiang Province last morning, becoming the eighth typhoon of the year to hit the country. With winds near the center reaching 23 meters per second, the storm is moving northwest at 15–20 kilometers per hour and is expected to strengthen.

• Former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol again failed to appear for questioning by a special counsel, citing health reasons, amid an ongoing probe into allegations involving his wife.

Sports Updates

• In Football, India has been placed in Group C for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, alongside strong opponents Japan, Vietnam, and Chinese Taipei. The draw took place at Sydney Town Hall in Australia.

• In Badminton, India made a strong start at the Macau Open tournament with several impressive performances across categories.

• भारत और संयुक्त अरब अमीरात ने नई दिल्ली में आयोजित 13वीं भारत-यूएई संयुक्त रक्षा सहयोग समिति (जेडीसीसी) की बैठक के दौरान द्विपक्षीय रक्षा सहयोग को मजबूत करने की अपनी प्रतिबद्धता की पुष्टि की।
• भारत और अमेरिका ने जीएसएलवी रॉकेट की सफल उड़ान के साथ अपने पहले अंतरिक्ष सहयोग को चिह्नित किया, जिसने पृथ्वी अवलोकन उपग्रह, एनआईएसएआर को एक सटीक कक्षा में स्थापित किया। NISAR को इसरो और नासा द्वारा संयुक्त रूप से विकसित किया गया था।
• लोकसभा ने मणिपुर में राष्ट्रपति के शासन को 13 अगस्त 2025 से छह महीने की अतिरिक्त अवधि के लिए बढ़ाने के संबंध में वैधानिक प्रस्ताव को अपनी मंजूरी दे दी है।
• प्रधानमंत्री किसान सम्मान निधि (पीएम-किसान) योजना की २० वीं किस्त २ अगस्त को जारी की जाएगी। इस संबंध में नई दिल्ली में कृषि एवं कृषक’ कल्याण मंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान की अध्यक्षता में एक उच्चस्तरीय बैठक आयोजित की गई।
• केंद्रीय ग्रामीण विकास मंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने इस बात पर प्रकाश डाला कि दीनदयाल अंत्योदय योजना-राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण आजीविका मिशन के तहत औपचारिक वित्तीय संस्थानों के माध्यम से महिला स्वयं सहायता समूहों (एसएचजी) को ११ लाख करोड़ रुपये से अधिक का ऋण वितरित किया गया है।
• विदेश मंत्रालय के सूत्रों ने कहा है कि निमिशा प्रिया की मौत की सजा रद्द करने के दावे गलत हैं। उन्होंने लोगों से इस संवेदनशील मामले पर गलत सूचना और अटकलों से बचने का आग्रह किया है।
• भारतीय तटरक्षक बल (आईसीजी) और संयुक्त अरब अमीरात नेशनल गार्ड कमांड ने नई दिल्ली में समुद्री सुरक्षा और संरक्षा सहयोग पर एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अपडेट :

• ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने किशोरों को हानिकारक ऑनलाइन सामग्री से बचाने के उद्देश्य से एक कानून का विस्तार करते हुए यूट्यूब को 16 वर्ष से कम उम्र के बच्चों के लिए प्रतिबंधित सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफार्मों की अपनी सूची में जोड़ा है। अल्फाबेट के स्वामित्व वाली इस साइट को पहले शैक्षिक उपयोग के कारण छूट दी गई थी, लेकिन सर्वेक्षण के बाद इसे इसमें शामिल कर लिया गया।
• फिलीपींस ने कई तटीय क्षेत्रों में सुनामी संबंधी चेतावनी हटा ली है। जापान ने कांटो से वाकायामा तक के लिए अपनी चेतावनी को घटाकर सुनामी संबंधी चेतावनी कर दिया, लेकिन होक्काइडो और तोहोकू के कुछ हिस्सों के लिए उच्च अलर्ट जारी रखा।
• थाईलैंड की सेना ने कम्बोडियाई सेना पर तीन सीमा स्थलों पर युद्ध विराम का उल्लंघन करने का आरोप लगाया तथा चेतावनी दी कि आगे की आक्रामकता से थाई सेना को और अधिक कड़ी प्रतिक्रिया का सामना करना पड़ सकता है। मलेशिया और अमेरिका की मध्यस्थता से दो दिन पहले ही हुए युद्धविराम पर सहमति बनी थी, जिसका उद्देश्य पांच दिनों से चल रही घातक झड़पों को समाप्त करना था।
• टाइफून को-मे ने कल सुबह चीन के झेजियांग प्रांत में दस्तक दी, जो देश में आने वाला वर्ष का आठवां टाइफून बन गया। केंद्र के निकट हवा की गति 23 मीटर प्रति सेकंड तक पहुंचने के साथ, तूफान 15–20 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे की गति से उत्तर-पश्चिम की ओर बढ़ रहा है तथा इसके और मजबूत होने की उम्मीद है।
• दक्षिण कोरिया के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति यूं सुक येओल अपनी पत्नी से जुड़े आरोपों की चल रही जांच के बीच स्वास्थ्य कारणों का हवाला देते हुए एक बार फिर विशेष वकील के समक्ष पूछताछ के लिए उपस्थित नहीं हुए।

• फुटबॉल में, भारत को 2026 एएफसी महिला एशियाई कप के लिए मजबूत प्रतिद्वंद्वियों जापान, वियतनाम और चीनी ताइपे के साथ ग्रुप सी में रखा गया है। यह ड्रा आस्ट्रेलिया के सिडनी टाउन हॉल में निकाला गया।
